The Winter Seasons of Fort Lectures begins with a bang!

Bembridge Fort was pleased to welcome trustee and Fort Project Manager Tim Wander into the main gunpowder magazine theatre on Saturday 10th October. This time it was to present a whole new lecture to a packed and enthralled audience telling the story of the Zulu war in 1879 – while of course covering the epic films Zulu and Zulu Dawn – along with his personal reflections and photographs after a recent long research trip to the incredible battlefield sites.

Aided by the irrepressible Ed Nash from TimeJumpHistories in full Victorian army uniform – the two hour talk also featured Ed in full flow doing military drill, blank firing and a talk through an excellent display of Historic Guns.

A great question and answer concluded our first successful historical lecture of the season. We have some more planned including Tim being requested to do his story of Oliver Cromwell that led to the Commonwealth of England when we were, for a short time, a Republic!

Please watch the website for future dates.

Thank you all who attended and as ever all proceeds for the talk go towards keeping the Fort lights on and the building Dry.
